Mario Kart 8’s Second DLC Tracks And Characters Detailed

Mario Kart 8's Animal Crossing DLC detailed

Nintendo has detailed the contents of its upcoming second DLC pack for Wii U racer Mario Kart 8.

The headline feature will undoubtedly be the new Animal Crossing crossover track and the series’ Villager being added as a playable racer. 8 tracks will be included in total, evenly split between new and retro courses. Here’s what you’ll get:

Retro tracks:

  • Baby Park (GameCube)
  • Koopa City (3DS)
  • Ribbon Road (GBA)
  • Cheese Land (GBA)

New tracks:

  • Wild Woods
  • Super Bell Subway
  • Big Blue
  • Animal Crossing

On top of the tracks, 3 new playable racers will be added to the game - Villager, Isabelle and Dry Bowser - and four new vehicles: Bone Rattler, City Tripper, Streetle and P-Wing.

When the DLC is released on April 23rd, a free update for Mario Kart 8 will also be made abailable. The new update adds the new 200cc speed class to the game, as well as further support for Amiibo figures and more Mii costumes.

Jamie Goodin reviewed Mario Kart 8 for Continue Play, awarding it a solid 8/10 score, praising the track design and cup races, but feeling disappointed by an uninspired roster of racers and the changes made to Mario Kart‘s Battle mode. “Mario Kart 8 definitely frustrates in some ways, but beyond the shadow of a doubt it offers a pure Mario Kart experience in shiny HD-quality graphics and with the most rounded set of online features yet seen from the publisher,” Jamie wrote in his Mario Kart 8 review.

Nintendo has released a lengthy trailer showing off the new DLC, which you can watch below.
