Wizards of the Coast has announced Magic 2015: Duels of the Planeswalkers, in a move which will surprise absolutely no-one.
The latest iteration of the popular digital card game is due out this Summer, initially on Xbox One before moving to Xbox 360, iOS, Android, Steam and Kindle - it looks like Playstation owners will be missing out this year. This latest sequel boasts several new features, such as fully customizable card decks, a bevy of new booster packs, and an “an even more robust deck builder”. In addition, it features cards taken from the new Core Set of the physical game, allowing players to get a preview ahead of its physical release - rather handy, if you like to play in tournaments.
The tagline for this latest installment is “Hunt Bigger Game”, and pits players against the so-called “deadliest hunter in the Magic Multiverse” - Garruk Wildspeaker.
Duel of the Planeswalkers has been running for several years now, and it’s rather popular. Originally released back in 2009, a sequel in 2011 saw the series transform into an annual release, each one steadily iterating on the popular formula. Players customize decks of elemental-themed cards, before battling it out in an attempt to reduce their enemy’s life points to zero through a combination of spells and summoned creatures.
In addition to announcing the existence of the game, Wizards of the Coast has said that they will be in attendance at PAX East this weekend, allowing eager players to get their first hands-on with the title.
A trailer has been released to accompany the announcement, which you can watch below.
