Yet another glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix has arrived, courtesy of Square Enix.
The trailer showcases some of the cutscenes that will be featured in the game regarding all that is included in the collection.
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix consists of Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix - previously released for the PlayStation 2 only in Japan - Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: Final Mix - previously for the PSP, also only in Japan - and cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded - originally for the Nintendo DS, this time remastered in high-definition.
The Final Mix versions differ from the original games, in that they include new boss battles, cutscenes, and story content that was never before seen outside of Japan. Also included are new gameplay features, weapons, an additional difficulty level and a theater mode.
The trailer showcases a few of these such as the main protagonist, Sora, fighting Terra from Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Roxas from Kingdom Hearts 2, and many other scenes from the original Final Mix versions now rendered in HD. But what stands out the most about this trailer is the last few seconds, in which the game switches to Japanese and you can hear a man talking to someone about the history of the Keyblade War. This is the first reference to story content regarding Kingdom Hearts 3, even if it is minimal.
We also get an official release date of the game -December 2, 2014 in North America, and December 5, 2024 in Europe - so you can get it just in time for Christmas. And we’re reminded that Kingdom Hearts III is still “in development.” Will it make an appearance at E3 next week? Square Enix says not to get your hopes up, but that’s not exactly a concrete “no.”
