Killer Instinct PC Port Underway

A PC port of Xbox One launch title Killer Instinct is in full development, Iron Galaxy has confirmed.

Microsoft Creative Director, Adam Isgreen, confirmed the news in a Q&A post on the official Killer Instinct forum on Friday night. Fans will need to wait until EVO and Gamescom for more information on how work is progressing.

Win 10 and middleware integration is what’s underway right now,” Isgreen said, before adding that “some of the KI team, and others at IG [Iron Galaxy]” are working on the PC version.

Some gamers might be a little concerned that Iron Galaxy is working on the Killer Instinct port: the studio’s last port was Batman: Arkham Knight, a game with more than a few issues on PC.

Killer Instinct was developed by Double Helix, before Iron Galaxy took the reins for Season 2. Season 2 saw a number of new characters, stages and modes added to the game, and the studio has said that there’s plenty more to come, such as additional Shadow versions of characters and, of course, more balance tweaks.

Yours truly reviewed Killer Instinct shortly after it launched back in 2013, awarding the game 8/10. “While it suffers from a lack of single-player options, gameplay is fast and fluid, it strikes a good balance between easy to learn while still being difficult to master, and each fighter is unique, requiring vastly different strategies,” I wrote in my Killer Instinct review.
