Today, Developer Squad - makers of the award winning Kerbal Space Program – announced their new partnership with Curse.com for the creation of a new website for Kerbal Spaceport, the host site for the game’s popular online modding community.
As of today, modders will be able to upload and update their Kerbal Space Program mods directly to CurseForge for community access. The existing Kerbal Space Port modding site will remain open, but will no longer be accepting new submissions, directing those who try to the new site.
Modding has been an integral part of Kerbal Space Program’s success, as Chief Operating Officer Adrian Goya explained earlier today. “Modders have helped make Kerbal Space Program a more open, more rewarding game experience for our players… Curse is an important partner because their team is passionate and experienced in caring for and growing online game communities, such as our amazing playerbase for Kerbal Space Program.”
Kerbal Space Program recently won the 2013 Game Developers Choice Audience Award, and has over 2,000 pieces of user-generated content, allowing for a greater user experience. Developer Squad hopes that by joining with CurseForge, modders will have a larger audience to share their content with, as well as having the opportunity to participate in ad-generated revenue sharing.
We for one think it’s great to see game developers supporting their online mod community like this, and hope more developers follow Developer Squad’s example.
