Indie developer Dreadbit and publisher Ripstone have announced that Ironcast will be ready and available on Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Playstation 4 sometime later this year, after the PC version received positive feedback from backers on Kickstarter.
Ironcast is a genre mash-up of turn-based strategy and match-3 puzzling, set in a Steampunk alternate history based on the fiction of Victorian era writers such as H. G. Wells and Jules Verne. In Dreadbit’s alternative history, gentlemen (and gentleladies) are in command of mighty mechanical behemoths (mechs, to the rest of us) with which they lay waste to the enemies of Britannia. It will be your job to stand proudly against an invading force of enemy Ironcast so that the glorious Victorian English Empire is protected against those who would see it burn. So no pressure!
Ironcast features a system of power nodes that you have to expend on either offensive or defensive maneuvers, depending on whether you plan to damage your enemy or protect yourself from an oncoming barrage of fire. This is done by matching up colored symbols that correspond with particular actions.
Ironcast may be Dreadbit’s debut title, but the developer has plenty of experience - Ironcast‘s Lead Designer and founder Daniel Leaver previously worked for Media Molecule, and was the Senior Designer on Tearaway and LittleBIGPlanet.
