Less than a month after releasing Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth, Idea Factory has announced that it’s sequel, Re;Birth 2: SISTERS GENERATION, will be getting both a physical and digital release in Europe and the United States early 2015. The title, a remake of Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 for the PlayStation 3, using the evolutions the franchise gained in Re;birth (it a remake of the first title in the series).

For those who don’t know the franchise, it’s an RPG set in the world of Gamindustri, which features animé-stylized characters based on, predictably, the videogame industry. Characters are loose parodies of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo characters, and there are various cameos from companies, creatives (Keiji Inafune is involved in an attack, for example), and more. Neptunia, for example, gains her name from SEGA’s abandoned Neptune console. Sisters Generation adds the ability to have four players in your party.

The official website gives a preview of the story, alongside offering a trailer featuring Japanese footage (with some new English dialogue).

“Gamindustri faces a dire crisis. Shops are boarded up, creators are overworked and starving, and death looms over all Gamindustrimen.

But the CPUs refuse to let this be game over for their world! Gamindustri had severed its ties to the chaotic Lawless Realm long ago, and yet… Ever since the advent of ASIC - the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime - morality has all but vanished. As much as 80 percent of all students are rumored to worship a being known as Arfoire. Parents, despite knowing it to be a poor deity to worship, have gone ahead and allowed their children to do so. Even the governing bodies of the world have turned a blind eye to it, rather than crush the crisis in its infancy. Basically, Gamindustri was pretty messed up.

Thus did Gamindustri fall into complete and utter disarray. Those who tire of living in this corrupt world are sent to wander the Gamindustri Graveyard, forever lost.”

At the moment, there is no solid date or price point given for the game, beyond early 2015.
