Human Resources Kickstarter has been cancelled due to lack of funding

Human Resources

Lacking resources from their fellow humans, Uber Entertainment has cancelled the Kickstarter campaign for their real-time strategy game Human Resources.

Human Resources was set to be a new RTS where you took command of either a race of Lovecraftian extra-dimensional beings or giant killer robots. Command & Conquer and Planetary Annihilation were cited as the foundations for gameplay, while the art-style would have been influenced by contemporary comic books, and was planned to feature 8-way simultaenous multiplayer.

Funding for Human Resources reached $384,358 from 9,326 backers - still woefully short of their goal of $1.4 million. Being a small studio Uber Entertainment has to delegate their own human resources carefully. Realizing that the act of raising funds was draining them of humans to resource for the actual project, they cancelled the game.

John Comes posted on the Kickstarter page to announce the cancellation and thanked their supporters.

As a small indie, we can’t continue spending time and money focusing on a project that won’t get funded. We simply don’t have the human resources. #seewhatididthere

Uber Entertainment is an indie studio with the goal of creating innovative RTS genre games. Starting in 2008 the studios is most known for the Steam game Planetary Annihilation.

With the recent cooling of enthusiasm for videogame-related Kickstarter campaigns, Human Resources’s cancellation isn’t shocking. Still, this won’t stop the fans from being disappointed. To keep optimism up despite disappointment, John Comes assured fans that this wasn’t the end of Human Resources:

We adore the world of Human Resources and will endeavor to do what we can to bring it to life in some form.
