The iPhone and Android versions of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft will be compatible with its counterparts on PC, Mac, iPad and Android tablets, Blizzard has confirmed.
In an interview with GameSpot, lead designer Eric Dodds said of cross-platform play, “Yes absolutely, it will be your exact same account, so all your cards on tablet or PC will be available on your phone too. When you start a match on a phone, you could be playing someone on another phone, someone on a tablet, on a PC, who knows? It’s all one big ecosystem.”
The interview also addressed several other topics, including how much battery power the app would consume on mobile phones. “”One thing we’re constantly thinking about is how to make the most of the phone’s battery,” Dodds said. “I don’t know if it uses a lot of data. You have to have a constant connection though. I wouldn’t recommend playing it on a train.”
One thing Dodds didn’t address was the actual release date for the mobile version, although it’s likely that the release will come in the next few months, probably after the upcoming Blackrock Mountain release. Stay tuned for more on that.
We’re all big fans of Hearthstone here at Continue Play. Dale reviewed the game for us and gave it a 10, stating that “Hearthstone is utterly fantastic. The little details that Blizzard has put in seem minor on the face of it – click on aspects of the playing field and you’ll trigger little animations and sound effects – but they all add up to a glorious whole… If you love card games, love Warcraft, or just love games in general, you owe it to yourself to play Hearthstone.”
