Curse of Naxxramas, the first expansion to be released for Blizzard’s extremely addictive Warcraft-themed card game Hearthstone, launched one week ago with the addition of the first single-player content chunk, the Arachnid Quarter.
Now, Blizzard has released the second area, the Plague Quarter, which needs to be purchased either with real money or in-game currency.
Unfortunately, many players - particularly from the EU region, but not isolated to it, if feedback from players is to be believed - have experienced “Purchase Failed” results, resulting in the content remaining locked despite having either in-game or real money extracted from their account when attempting to purchase. Worse still, many are reporting that they have been charged multiple times as a result of the error.
In an official post on the game’s forums - known as a “blue post” - the developer has acknowledged that this is a very serious issue, and assured players that they are aware of it and attempting to resolve it and restore players’ gold as soon as possible.
“We are investigating cases where players are attempting to purchase the Curse of Naxxramas: Plague Quarter wing,” said Forum Moderator Glaxgrave. “Our technicians are on the case! To help aid their investigation, we’d like to collect some additional information:
Cash or Gold purchase:
Error received (if any):
To help keep data collection clean for our development team’s research, off-topic posts may be deleted. Thank you!”
Blizzard has around-the clock-technicians to cover their many games, so it’s likely that the issue will be solved soon and that gold will be restored to player accounts. Still, for those looking to purchase the Plague Quarter, it would be wise to avoid doing so until all technical issues are resolved.
