Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft has taken the industry by storm, and with good reason. Blizzard’s take on the Collectible Card Game is both insanely addictive, accessible and as polished as you would expect from the makers of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo.
A while back, Blizzard announced the game’s first official expansion: Curse of Naxxramas. Based around the infamous raid dungeon from World of Warcraft, it brings 30 new cards and a series of solo challenges to the game. Those who have been anxiously awaiting more content can start counting the days, because Curse of Naxxramas will be released in less than a week - July 22 in the USA, and the following day in Europe.
The expansion will be released as a series of updates, beginning with Arachnid Quarter, which will be free to play during the launch event which is set to last around a month. Those who do so with retain access after the event has expired. Future wings will cost 700 gold each (6.99 USD, 5.99 EUR, 4.99 GBP), but bundles will be available.
We reviewed Hearthstone upon its release back in March, scoring it 10/10 and saying “Blizzard has taken the familiar principles of collectable card strategy games and streamlined them to the hilt, while sacrificing none of the depth that the genre is known for. If you’re at all familiar with games such as Magic: The Gathering, you’ll be in familiar territory, but you don’t need to be familiar in order to enjoy Hearthstone.“
