Fans of Drinkbox Studio’s popular luchador-inspired 2d platformer and beat ‘em up: Guacamelee! will be happy to hear that it’s taking a leap onto new consoles with the new Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (What a mouthful). This new version of is scheduled to launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the Wii U as of 2 July 2024 for £11.99 / €13.99.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition is set in and around a small Mexican village and alternates between the living and dead realms (it’s all heavily inspired by Mexican folklore). Players will control a wrestler who is in a bit of a rough patch at the moment, his name is Juan Aguacate and he will have to fight hordes of skeletons and undead creepy-crawlies in order to stop the menacing Carlos Calaca from gaining ultimate power through sacrificing the “El Presidente’s” beautiful daughter.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition will include a few new features to make it’s jump to new consoles all the more grandiose. Players can Expect an expanded version of the game, including new content and all DLC from the original, new areas, a new boss, and even new abilities. If you missed it the first time around, it’s certainly worth a try - especially if you’re a fan of metroidvania games.
