Rockstar has announced that the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 has been pushed back once again - to April 14th.
In a post on the official Rockstar blog, the developer/publisher apologized to players, but thanked them for their patience. They’ve also announced that any customers who have pre-ordered will receive an additional $200,000 of in-game cash to spend in GTA Online.
The delay is once again to ensure that the game is as polished as possible at launch, pointing specifically that they want to ensure GTA Online and Heists will be working correctly from day one. Considering the difficulties they enountered on PS3 and Xbox 360 back when the game was originally released in Novermber 2013, it should come as no surprise that Rockstar is eager to avoid another player backlash.
Online Heists, meanwhile, will be arriving on March 10th. Taking the Heists from the singleplayer campaign into GTA Online, teams of up to 4 players will be able to take part, pulling off “a string of intense, multi-part raids and robberies”. Apparently more details about other new features will be announced over the next couple of weeks.
I reviewed Grand Theft Auto 5 back at the time of its original release, scoring it 9/10. Since then, remastered versions have launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Aside from upgraded visuals, the current-gen version of the game features a smattering of additional content and an optional first-person perspective. Oh, and you can transform into a seagull and poop on people’s heads - which is sure to deliver plenty of laughs for players who enjoy a dose of schadenfreude.
