Gentlemen, Start Your Engines: Project CARS Has Gone Gold

Project CARS Goes Gold, Releases in EMEA Territories on May 7th

Project CARS has gone gold, which means the game is finally finished and ready to be sent off to manufacturers so discs can be produced.

The news confirms that the release date given yesterday is likely to be final for Europe, which is good news following a series of delays for the long-in-gestation community-built racing sim. Project CARS is set for release on May 8th in the UK, and May 12th in the US - making it a relatively rare instance of a game launching in Europe before North America. Given that the gold master has now been sent to the distributor for pressing to disc, a further delay at this stage is more-or-less off the cards.

Ian Bell, Head of Slightly Mad Studios, stated that “we’re extremely happy to confirm that Project CARS has now gone gold and will release in EMEA territories on May 7th, 2015.”

“We know the wait for the game to be released was worth it, as we’re confident the quality and realism level we have achieved will provide our fans with the game they are all expecting. Finally, we are also delighted to reveal the final track list. With more than 30 locations, Project CARS offers the largest track roster of any recent racing game.”

Project CARS will launch with 110 different courses, spread across 30 locations. The full list of tracks can be found on their official site.

Slightly Mad Studios has also confirmed that players will be able to download free DLC vehicles in the months following the games release, starting with the W Motors Lykan Hypersport made famous in the movie Furious 7.

If you missed it yesterday, check out the new trailer below, which shows off Project CARS’ multi-discipline career mode.
