Oddworld Inhabitants has shown off fresh gameplay footage of their upcoming remake of Abe’s Odyssey, Oddworld - New n Tasty - in development by Just Add Water for consoles and home computers.
The footage, which you can see below, shows off the brand new graphic engine being used for the game. While the original was a strictly 2d affair using pre-rendered backgrounds, this new remake is rendered in full 3D, with advanced lighting. In addition, where the original game featured a flick-screen effect, all levels in the new version scroll seamlessly.
“This really is taking the game above and beyond what we thought would be possible,” said Stewart Gilray, CEO at developer Just Add Water. “We’re so excited to finally show what we’ve been working so hard to produce”.
To go along with the trailer, a number of new screenshots have been released, showcasing the environments in the video.
Oddworld: New n Tasty is out this Spring.
