Tearaway is coming to PS4!
Well, sort of. Tearaway Unfolded has seen developer Media Molecule going back to the drawing board to recreate the Vita game around the Dualshock 4, in the absence of many of the input methods used by the handheld version of the game.
In case you’re not aware, Tearaway was originally a Vita-exclusive title where you interact with the game-world through the Vita’s touchpads and superimposing your face on the sun like an aghast Teletubby using the Vita’s front camera. The PS4 version, you will be pleased to know, endeavors to break the Fourth Wall as hard as it possibly can in spite the technical limitations of the DuelShock 4 controller.
The player’s finger, which would usually poke through the back of the Vita or crush from above on equally rare occasions, has been replaced by gusts of wind via the DualShock 4′s touchpad. This is order to transition the game from a world between your hands to a world set inside your TV. As is standard with PS4-exclusive titles, Tearaway Unfolded uses the DualShock 4′s light bar as a means of interacting with the game world. Here, it’s used as a flashlight. Occasionally your messenger, Iota/ Atoi will even toss items from the TV into your controller, that rattle around using the controller’s speakers and vibration functions.
On top of all this, Tearaway Unfolded will feature a variety of new features such as new areas, 1080p support, and hopefully even a smooth 60fps at time of release.
