Stardock has released early footage of Galactic Civilizations III, which is currently in the Alpha stage of development.
In case you’re not aware, Galactic Civilizations is a series of 4X strategy games for the PC. Players choose one of a number of different races, before setting off to expand their empire by colonizing new planets, researching new technology and either waging war or negotiating peace treaties with others. Think Civilization in space, only with more laser guns and tentacles. Traditionally it’s been a strictly single-player affair, but this sequel introduces Multiplayer for the first time, alongside a new diplomacy system, ship builder and a whole new graphics engine.
There’s no release date set yet, though we’d be surprised if it arrives this year.
