Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is actually a standalone expansion

Xbox One exclusive Forza Horizon 2 is getting itself a standalone expansion based on the popular movie franchise Fast & Furious, to coincide with the future release of Furious 7, the latest film in the long-running (and inexplicably popular) series.

Forza Horizon 2 Presents: Fast & Furious will, on top of not actually requiring the base game, be free from the March 27th up until April 10th as a way to promote the North American launch of Furious 7 (which drops on the 3rd of April). After the initial free period, the expansion will cost $10.

The expansion’s events will build on Furious 7 and play out as a prequel to the movie. Players will take the role of a driver in France who is tasked with sourcing vehicles to movies’ mechanic Tej Parker (played by Chris “Ludacris” Bridges).

So, what is this connection that The Fast & Furious movie franchise will do to excite Forza Horizon 2 fans? Owners of the expansion will receive popular movie cars such as a 1998 Toyota Supra, 1970 Plymouth Road Runner, 2012 Nissan GT-R, 1970 Plymouth Cuda, 2013 Jeep Wrangler, 2014 Maserati Ghibli S and 2015 Dodge Charger. The 1970 Dodge Charger R/T that is famously driven by the character Dominic Toretto (portrayed by Vin “Riddick” Diesel in the films) will also be available. All the above cars will of course also be unlockable for use in free-roam play upon completion of their required challenges.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below. If the planned release date is anything to go by, we’ll have some more trailers to drool at soon.
