Firefly Online, a free-to-play online game set to come out in some form this Spring for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android, will feature the main cast of the TV show reprising their roles, it’s been confirmed.
The news, which comes via the game’s official website, confirms statements made by developer Quantum Mechanix last year central cast members from the short-lived show will return, and will no doubt please fans hoping for an authentic Firefly experience.
Many of the main cast, including Adam Baldwin, Alan Tudyk, Jewel Staite, Morena Baccarin, Nathan Fillion, Ron Glass, Sean Maher, and Summer Glau will all return. Of the main cast, the only one missing is Gina Torres. Though the most recent trailer, embedded below, is only two days old, other voice work trailers have been appearing over the course of the past two months. Given that, there’s still plenty of time for Torres to appear before the final release.
Most of the trailers can be found through the Firefly Online Cortex, though there are also previews on the official YouTube channel.
Opinion: Little information, and even less gameplay, has been shown, so a lot of the quality of Firefly Online is entirely up to speculation. That said, the quality of the trailers and the voice-work seems pretty stand-up, so it’s exciting to know there’s opportunity for more high-quality Firefly content for fans of the series, even if nothing is certain yet.
