April 14, Square Enix celebrates the launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn for the PlayStation 4. The game is already available for the PlayStation 3 (and PC) but now PS3 players can transfer their accounts across to the new PlayStation 4 version of the game with a free upgrade.

Players should take note that if they take advantage of the free upgrade they will be locked-in to playing the PS4 version of the game. However it will still be possible to alternate between playing on the two systems by purchasing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn for both.

The Collector’s Edition of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is also available today. It comes with:

  • A special collector’s box
  • Art Book - The Art of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined
  • Special Soundtrack - The Sounds of Eorzea
  • Art Card Set
  • Themed Security Token
  • Seventh Umbral Era Special Movie Content Disc - The Waning of the Sixth Sun
  • In-game Items - Fat Chocobo Mount, Coeurl Mount, Behemoth Barding, Wind-up Moogle, Baby Behemoth, Helm of Light

Owners of either the PS3 or PS4 Standard Edition of the game will be able to upgrade to a digital-only version of the Collector’s Edition to redeem the in-game bonuses via FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station.

In addition, owners of the original FINAL FANTASY XIV 1.0 Collector’s Edition or FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Collector’s Edition (PlayStation 3/PC) will be able to access to additional in-game items: Fat Chocobo and Wind-up Moogle Minion.

The PS4 version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn boasts upgraded graphics over its PS3 counterpart and also features support for remote play via PlayStation Vita, the PS4′s Share feature, and mouse and keyboard support.
