With Square Enix’s HD remake of Final Fantasy Type-0 for next gen consoles PS4 and Xbox One, they are setting out to make the game more realistic and gritty to appeal to its now grown up and more mature audience.

Abandoning the traditional Rated Teen game concept of “taking damage but showing no bruises”, this game sets out to accurately convey the brutality of war and conflict and how it would look like within the Final Fantasy universe with elements such as magic and mythical creatures playing a factor into battles. So, for example, hit an enemy with a fire spell and their skin will blister and burn. The game also follows a more complex story theme that asks the gamer legitimate philosophical questions about life and death and what lies beyond the world we live in. The objective is for the game to show the true consequences and horrors of war, with as much realism as possible within the context of its swords-and-sorcery setting.

Final Fantasy Type-0 was originally released as a PSP title exclusive to Japan, originally marketed as being part of a XIII-series of games codenamed Fabula Nova Crystallis, featuring Agito XIII (now Type-0), alongside Final Fantasy Versus XIII (now XV) and the original Final Fantasy XIII. However due to a change in plans, international Final Fantasy fans never got the chance to sink their teeth into Type-0, something which has been the source of much disappointment over the years among fans. ut can now look forward to getting their hands on the game for the first time, better than ever, remade and fully remastered with all-new graphics in HD for the current generation of home consoles.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD can be expected to be played in your living room sometime “within a year”, hosting new and improved visuals rendered in high definition and your choice of four different difficulty settings. Outside of that the game is expected to play much like the original real-time action RPG that was released on the PSP in Japan back in 2011.
