Square Enix has announced news concerning the future of MMO, Final Fantasy XIV.
Back in 2009, Square Enix announced that the sequel to Final Fantasy XI would be making its way to PC and PS3. Since that fateful day, Final Fantasy XIV launched - albeit only on PC - struggled to pick up speed, and even and got hit by a meteor.
Luckily, the residents of Eorzea have been given a lifeline. FFXIV plans to relaunch in 2013 as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and better yet, it’s heading for Playstation 3.
The newly released pictures show FFXIV in action on the Playstation platform, along with brand-spanking new menus and an overhauled user interface.
Also mentioned is cross-platform play, a feature that will allow PC and PS3 players to play the game together. The new menus are, apparently, designed with both platforms in mind, which if you’ve played FFXI on Xbox 360, is a very welcome addition indeed.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently in Alpha with, presumably, a Beta before its release in 2013.
