Adam Boyes announced at E3 that Final Fantasy VII is being remade, and that it’s coming to the PS4 “first.” There was no explicit mention of the game being ported to other consoles, but it seems unlikely that it won’t see a PC release, especially after the (somewhat) recent ports of XII and XII-2. But maybe it will be a title exclusive to Sony, who knows? Since there’s still no concrete date for when the game will be released, we’ll have to wait and find out.
Critically acclaimed and wildly clamoured for, it’s honestly surprising that it’s taken this long for a remake to happen. No matter how jaded you’ve become about Final Fantasy VII and how dated it’s become, it’s hard not to be excited about a project as big as this. Since the announcement was accompanied with a trailer and not much more, we’ll hopefully be hearing more about it soon.
