Aeria Games has announced that the free-to-play online multiplayer game in Monolith’s hit franchise, F.E.A.R. Online, will be released on Steam on October 17.
Fans of the horror franchise will be pleased to hear that player feedback from the closed beta has been taken into account; the game has gone under an extensive redesign and gameplay adjustments have been made in order to create an immersive and terrifying first-person experience. Gameplay changes include new maps and an updated crafting system which allows for one-of-a-kind weapons to be created, something fans have been asking for for a long time.
Dr. Pascal Zuta, CEO of Aeria Games, said of the release: “We are excited to introduce F.E.A.R. Online to millions of PC gamers with the launch on the Steam platform. Taking player feedback to heart, our team has redesigned elements of the game that are most important to players to deliver an experience that we hope will please the vast and dedicated fan base of the F.E.A.R. series.”
The story campaign follows four players in a Left 4 Dead-esque style of gameplay. Each player acts as a member of the F.E.A.R. task force, who are brought in to investigate Armacham Technology Corporation’s unsettling experiments and the activity surrounding Alma Wade, following on from the events of F.E.A.R. 2. The Soul King mode from F.E.A.R. 3 is also set to make a return, in which players assume the role of wraiths trying to possess various enemies across the battlefield.
F.E.A.R. Online will also be available prior to the Steam release for open beta via the Aeris Games portal on October 8.
