Etrian Mystery Dungeon shows off new Protector class in latest video

Atlus has shared new details about the upcoming Etrian Mystery Dungeon, the latest release in the long-running series of dungeon-crawling RPG games currently in development by Spike Chumsoft.

The latest update focuses on the game’s new Protector class, who you can see in action in the video below. A tank-type class, the Protector uses a combination of high Defense and large shields to help protect your allies from enemies. It also comes with the ability to taunt and bind opponents, which will no doubt come in handy throughout your playthrough - the Etrian series is famous for its high level of difficulty.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon combines the turn-based dungeon crawling the series is known for with the randomly-generated levels of the Mystery Dungeon series. Players select a group of 4 different adventurers from 10 different classes, each with their own unique skill trees, before delving into dungeons on a quest for loot and riches and fighting monsters in turn-based battles.

In addition to the latest video, Atlus has also shared a few screenshots and selected artwork for you to enjoy (which you can also see below), ahead of the game’s April 7th release on Nintendo’s 3DS handheld. Preorders of the game come with a limited-edition soundtrack CD and artbook. More information about Etrian Mystery Dungeon can be found on the official website.
