Xbox One users will be excited to hear that EA has announced a new premium service, EA Access.

No firm launch date has been announced for the scheme, though if the press release is to be believed, it looks like it will be made available within the next couple of months.

This service grants you access to three things: The Vault, Play For Less and Play First.

The Vault is “an evolving collection of EA games for Xbox One” which you can download and play at any time for only $4.99 a month. At present, this collection includes Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and the Peggle 2 Beta, though EA claim that more titles will come in the future.

On top of this, subscribers can Play For Less, receiving an exclusive 10% discount on select EA digital purchases on Xbox One. At present, this includes Madden NFL 15, Madden Ultimate Team, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 4 Premium, FIFA 15, FIFA Ultimate Team, EA Sports UFC, Need for Speed Rivals, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Peggle 2 and NBA Live 14, again with more titles coming soon. A notable omission from the scheme is Titanfall - interestingly, the small print in the announcement states that “Titanfall excluded from all EA Access features”.

Finally, EA announced that subscribers can also Play First; EA Access subscribers will be able to download upcoming EA games to play for a limited time, five days before the official release date. Once again there is a list of games that this applies to: Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA Live 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, with more to come. If you like the game, you can then “purchase it and pick up right where you left off” on release day. It’s a welcome pro-consumer move, allowing people to (for a small fee, at least) try a game before committing to a purchase.

This sounds like an interesting partnership which will has the potential to have Xbox One users salivating. Personally, they had me at Dragon Age: Inquisition.

What do you think?
