Sega has dropped a significant selection of screens for their upcoming 3DS/Wii U Sonic game, Sonic Boom. Technically speaking the 3DS and Wii U versions are different games with their own takes on the same story.

Sonic Boom: The Shattered Crystal (3DS)

The 3DS version, Sonic Boom: The Shattered Crystal is being developed by Sanzaru Games. Sanzaru are notable for their work on The Sly Collection.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U)

The Wii U version, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, is being developed by Big Red Button Entertainment on the CryEngine. Big Red Button are a new developer, but we’re keeping an eye on them as many Naughty Dog veterans are amongst their ranks.

Both versions of Sonic Boom are slated for release in November this year. In the meantime check out the screens and how the two versions of the game differ. We’ll be sure to let you know if we hear any more details of the game or the accompanying CG animation series of the same name.
