Just in time for E3, Firaxis Games – with 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive - has released a handful of new screenshots for their upcoming Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth, due out later this year on PC, Mac, and Linux. Beyond Earth is the latest addition to the long line of turn-based strategy games that is the Civilization franchise, and the spiritual successor to Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri.

Beyond Earth is set in the future and is essentially continuing the narrative set in Civilization V, with all of human civilization culminating in a grand feat of engineering and ingenuity – leaving Earth and colonizing other planets. Fans of the Civilization gameplay will feel right at home in Beyond Earth as Firaxis is evolving the concepts developed in the previous titles while adding in new mechanics and choices.

We’ll bring you all of the breaking news from E3 this year, including coverage of Beyond Earth and other titles. It’s only a short wait until Sid Meier releases what is sure to be a historic, futurist game.
