Microsoft has announced that its free-to-play online multiplayer RPG strategy game Happy Wars will be coming to Xbox One. Not only that, but Happy Wars will be first Xbox One game to support cross-platform game play. It will also support four player split-screen and include additional character classes alongside the original Warrior, Mage, and Cleric.
Developed by Toylogic and originally released by Microsoft Game Studios back in 2012 with a PC version following in 2013, Happy Wars is a mix of online multiplayer, strategy, RPG, and good old-fashioned button mashing. It has a simple single player campaign allowing you to bulk up your skills before entering the melee that is online multiplayer. Two teams of up to 15 players each square off in a Capture the Flag style grudge match with a few interesting twists. The gameplay is simple, the controls easy to master, and the comical cartoon characters easy to love; but don’t let those ideas fool you: storming castles, controlling spawn points, casting epic spells with five of your team mates, or defending your own castle with giant ballista can be a hard and harrowing experience not to be missed.
With Microsoft boasting over 7.5 million downloads during their trailer, the addition of cross-platform support is sure to increase that number dramatically.
No release date for the Xbox One version has been released at this time, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest developments.
