During their Digital E3 event today, Nintendo showed off the trailer for the isometric puzzler Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, coming this holiday season. Originally featured as the popular mini-game within Super Mario 3D world, Captain Toad is back as its own fully-fledged game within the Mario universe.

The trailer showed off a variety of levels and puzzles which the player must navigate Toad through on his quest for treasure. No longer as feeble as he was in the mini-game, Toad is now able to lift and throw objects at enemies, as well as jump and crush them on his landing, Mario style. The trailer even showed off a large dragon-like boss spewing fireballs from inside a pit of lava.

Nintendo has a knack for developing creative games within the Mario franchise and this one certainly looks interesting.
