Don’t Starve Hitting the PS4 This January

Good news for those of you looking to get your hands on a PlayStation 4 sometime soon: Klei Entertainment’s Don’t Starve is joining the list of indie games that will be available for download shortly after launch. Free for Playstation Plus members, Don’t Starve will be available in January 2014.

For readers that aren’t familiar with the game, it’s an open-world action adventure game released last April in which your objective is to, well, not starve to death (or be killed by the world’s various monsters) while exploring everything the world has to offer. Once you die, the game ends - so the idea is that you keep trying while slowly amassing information about the game’s various mysteries. There’s several different characters to experiment with, each featuring their own special abilities (including the ability to “grow a magnificent beard”).

It’s not one of my favorite releases of the year, but the exploration aspect is done well and the game is friggin’ beautiful, so I definitely recommend either buying it on Steam or downloading it on PSN in January.

And remember: don’t ever stray too far from the light.
