Diddy Kong nerfed by Nintendo in Smash Bros. Wii U patch

Diddy Kong gets nerfed in latest Smash Bros. patch

The latest patch for Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U has introduced a full range of balancing changes to much of the game’s character roster. The fighter that’s been hit the hardest is Diddy Kong, who many players considered to be overpowered.

His attacks have been reported to do less damage. Moves which have been reduced in power include Diddy’s aerial attacks, throws, Banana Throw and Monkey Flip.

Nintendo hasn’t detailed the balance changes it’s made to the game roster, but fans have been compiling a list on the Smash Bros. Reddit. Most moves have had their damage reduced by 2% and knockback has also been removed.

The new patch, which went live yesterday, also includes 8-player support for more stages and will allow players to download the DLC character Mewtwo.

Mewtwo will be available on the 28th of April for the price of $3.99/£3.49, although anyone who registered copies of both the 3DS and Wii U versions on Club Nintendo should have received free download keys for the character yesterday.

Continue Play contributor Ewan Moore reviewed Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, scoring it an “essential” 10/10. Nintendo’s most recent home console may not be setting the world on fire, but the sheer excellence of its first-party offerings is in no doubt.

“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is a robust, lovingly packaged game that manages to offer something to anyone and everyone.” Ewan wrote in his Super Smash Bros. for Wii U review. “With such a huge game, filled with content, I’ve been struggling to to come up with just one word to sum it up. Then it hit me: Super Smash Bros is what Nintendo has always been about, regardless of what their detractors may say, even in their 125th year. Simply put, Super Smash Bros for Wii U is fun.

Are you a Diddy Kong player? What do you think of this latest patch?
