UPDATE: Speaking to Gamespot, Lead Producer Alex Mayberry has stated Blizzard is confident that the expansion’s launch will go smoothly. “It’s all live. It’s running. It’s been running for a few weeks now.”
Here’s hoping he’s correct.
Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls officially launches tomorrow on PC (with a PS4 release to follow later this year). Hurrah! But if you have a digital copy of the game, you can access it from later today. Blizzard has a list of times when you can access the expansion, which we’ve reproduced here.
The game’s servers go live at the following times:
For Europe, the expansion will be available to play at 4:00 p.m. PDT on March 24.
23:00 GMT on March 24
00:00 CET on March 25
01:00 EET on March 25
03:00 MSK on March 25
For the Americas, the expansion will be available to play on 9:00 p.m. PDT on March 24.
10:00 p.m. MDT on March 24
11:00 p.m. CDT on March 24
12:00 a.m. EDT on March 25
1:00 a.m. ADT on March 25
1:30 a.m. NDT on March 25
12:00 p.m. SGT on March 25
3:00 p.m. AEDT on March 25
In addition, the developer has suggested that players log in ahead of time in order to try to avoid long server queues. Diablo 3, of course, suffered a slightly less-than-smooth launch when it released back in 2012, with some players reporting that it was days before they could experience the game. Blizzard is surely hoping that it’s a situation they can avoid this time around.
Reaper of Souls is the long-awaited first expansion to the rather wonderful Action-RPG game and adds a new Act, a new character class, and a number of other additions such as enhanced replayability via the game’s new Adventure Mode. While the game wasn’t exactly free from criticism at launch, Blizzard has since made efforts to rectify issues such as what many claimed was an unfairly low chance of obtaining loot, and closing the game’s Auction House, which allowed players to bid for items using real money.
Our review of the game should be ready by the end of the week. In the meantime, check out the (stunning) introductory sequence below.
