Crytek has announced their thrilling new multiplayer survival shooter today, HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, for PC and consoles. This is a whole new IP for Crytek and we have admit, although the idea doesn’t seem too original, it looks pretty damn fun. HUNT is supposed to be a third-person action game that throws 4 players together to work as a team in an attempt to fend off waves of vicious creatures whilst tracking down monstrous bosses - the result being some pretty intense co-op gameplay. Could this be the true rival to Valve’s Evolve?
Supposedly set in the 1800s, HUNT paints its players a dark and mysterious world where myths and folklore seem to be part of a dangerous day-to-day life that is full to the brim with evil. Players take the role of hunters who are tasked with traveling to threatening territories and clearing out the bloodthirsty creatures that now inhabit them.
A cool feature in HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age is its random content generation system that ensures that long term players will still feel the same heart pounding nervousness and terror that they undoubtedly did when they first started playing. The content generation system will change the environments and enemies so that neither are encountered by players more than twice, this means surprises will be ever-present and the lingering fear of a boss (that will require a great deal of collaboration to take down) will always remain.
HUNT is the debut title for Crytek’s USA based team (Crytek USA Corp.) and we are eager to see what they have to offer.
David Adams, CEO of Crytek USA and former CEO of Vigil Games had the following to say about the game, “In HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created. From the outset of the development process, we’ve poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays HUNT will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities.“
Players who are eager to see more of this exciting game need only wait until E3 where it will be showing itself off from the 10th to the 12th of June.
