Maia is a deliciously detailed Kickstarter colony management simulator set on the previously unexplored planet Maia. It’s the players job to keep their colonists happy by keeping their bellies full and their bodies in one piece while exploring and colonizing the new environment. Physiological, psychological, and technical issues are also present threats to the player and his or her colonists on their mission. The game looks interesting to say the least and plays a lot like Dungeon Keeper or Dwarf Fortress in space.
The up-and-coming space and colonization simulator, currently in Alpha, has recently released a new update (0.42) that stands out from the heaps of previous updates in the past. This most recent update has added some pretty significant content including hostile AI that players now have to watch out for - this adds a much needed sense of ‘worry’ to gameplay.
Other additions include improved customization options, more buildable goodies, a host of much appreciated bug fixes, and some new Easter eggs for the amusement of the players.
If you’re looking for a large procedural world (2kmx2km), complex AI, easy to use user interfaces, a beautifully detailed simulation presented in high-quality graphics and open source data for modders to get hold of and experiment with - then Maia is for you.
