It’s been a while since Xbox gamers have seen Pacific City, the fictional stomping grounds of the Agency and the Agent player character from the Crackdown franchise. The original Crackdown, released for Xbox 360 way back in 2007, and was released with along with exclusive access to the Halo 3 beta. Its sequel, Crackdown 2, that did not feature the contribution of David Jones, creator of the Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto franchises, as well as the ill-fated APB: All Points Bulletin, was a bit more derivative, and led to Microsoft abandoning the promising franchise as of 2010.
Until now, that is. Not only is Crackdown 3 confirmed exclusive for Xbox One, with the return of Pacific City and the Agency, but also the involvement of David Jones is clear. Crackdown 3 will hearken back to the original game while very much expanding its own boundaries, and like any good franchise, is being given a second chance by Microsoft Studios to do something great.
We will release more information about Crackdown 3 as it becomes available.
