Counterfeit Amiibos Spotted Online

Months after release of Super Smash Bros. initial line of Amiibo figurines, it would appear that counterfeit Amiibo toys have finally made an appearance online.

With the images coming from Info Amiibo, it would seem that the figurines are coming sourced somewhere in Asia, and are making an appearances amongst stores located in Brazil. Whilst looking incredibly similar to the original models, subtle differences such as odd color variations, poor textures and crappy body parts make it obvious to the naked eye. As well as the physical faults, it would seem that these toys are also lacking the NFC chip needed to function properly, meaning that these counterfeits are effectively useless as far as Amiibos go.

In other Amiibo news, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata reported late in January that the company has sold approximately 5.7 million figurines. With the release of a Splatoon line of Amiibos and further ones scheduled down the line, we can only expect these numbers to soar.
