After an initial tease last week, Bandai Namco has officially announced a western release for Project X Zone 2 on 3DS.
In development by Monolift Software, Project X Zone 2 features characters taken from a number of Capcom, Bando Namco, and Sega franchises. The strategy RPG is a sequel to the 2005 original, which managed to shift over 400,000 copies.
The new game is absolutely stuffed to the gills with fan-favorite faces: Hiryu from Strider, Jin from Tekken and Zero from Mega Man are there, as are Akira and Kage from Virtua Fighter, Chris Redfield, Kill Valentine and Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil and Dante and Vergil from Devil May Cry. Other games and franchises known to be lending their characters to the game include Yakuza: Dead Souls, Street Fighter, Tales of Vesperia, the .hack// series, Mega Man X and Sakura Wars.
The full line-up of characters is yet to be revealed, but Bandai Namco says the final game will consist of “dozens” of well-known characters from a litany of franchises by all three publishers, including franchises not yet announced.
Project X Zone 2 will arrive some time during Autumn in Europe, the Middle East and Australasia. A release in North America isn’t mentioned in the press release. Check out the first screenshots and announcement trailer below.
