In a recent interview with Famitsu, which was translated by Gematsu, Capcom director and producer Jun Takeuchi revealed that a new PlayStation 4 game would be announced soon.
“PlayStation 4 development has been ongoing, but the more I use the system the more it seems there is to uncover,” said Takeuchi. “SCE has made a really incredible system for us.”
“Of course. Right now, we’re seeing how far we can push the game engine. You’ll be surprised by the quality of the games we’re working on right now. I think we’ll be able to announce it soon, so please look forward to it. I realize that’s obnoxious. It’s gonna be something that will even turn heads overseas.”
Takeuchi didn’t reveal whether the game will be an established series, or a new IP - but there’s a possibility we may see it at the PlayStation Experience event on December 6.What could it be? Street Fighter 5 has long been rumored to be in development, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been highly anticipated since the original game broke sales records for a new IP upon its release back in 2012. With 2 new Resident Evil games due for release early next year it seems unlikely that we’ll see a third, and Mega Man has essentially been left to gather dust by the publisher. A new Dead Rising then? A new Devil May Cry from a new development team (DmC developer Ninja Theory is currently working on Hellblade)? A new Ghosts ‘n’ Goblins would be fantastic, but seems unlikely.
