Cyanide Studios’ videogame adaptation of the 1980’s Warhammer-themed American football game Blood Bowl is now available on iPad and Android tablets.
The game was previously released on Windows PC and Xbox 360- as well as the DS and PSP- all the way back in 2009.
Blood Bowl got its start as a table-top fantasy football game by Games Workshop back in 1987. The two-player game has seen several rule-books added since then, as well as a 1995 video game adaptation by the long-extinct MicroLeague, the MS-DOS.
Cynanide Studios’ tablet version of Blood Bowl allows you to choose from six races from the Warhammer universe- Humans, Dwarves, Orcs, Skaven, Wood Elves and Chaos. It’s worth noting, however, that the base game only allows you to choose from humans and orcs. All the other races need to be unlocked for an additional charge.
Blood Bowl for tablets features both single-player (Solo Player and the more in-depth Campaign mode that will let you build up a team), and multiplayer game modes. It should be interesting to see how fans react to the tablet’s multiplayer capabilities, since they can also go head-to-head with people playing Blood Bowl on PC.
Cyanide Studios is also working on a sequel to Blood Bowl, though the release date is still listed as “coming soon” on the company’s website.
