Beta Sign-ups Announced For Ghost in the Shell Online

Free-to-play shooter Ghost in the Shell Online Beta Sign-ups Announced

Nexon America has announced that free-to-play shooter Ghost in the Shell Online will debut on PC in the Western market. Beta Sign-ups are set to begin in Q2 2015 for North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Latin American territories before the game receives it global release.

This move is part of Korean publisher Nexon’s strategy, under new CEO Owen Mahoney, to expand its presence in West markets through the development of free-to-play games.

Inspired by the characters and setting from the sci-fi anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - itself a spin-off from the original 1993 Manga by Masamune Shirow - Neople’s Ghost in the Shell Online is a free-to-play shooter in which teamwork is essential for success. You’ll be able to customize and play as your own cyborg agent, with various powers and skills at your disposal. Character customization is said to boast over 5000 different combinations and there will also be a skill share system that allows nearby allies to download skills from each other, allowing for much more strategic, team-based gameplay.

Nexon is also handling the first project from Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski’s new studio Boss Key Productions, titled Project Bluestreak, and Splash Damage’s team based FPS Dirty Bomb, which began its closed beta on Steam last week.

Ghost in the Shell Online is set to launch officially sometime later this year. You can check out the first trailer for the game below.
