Overcoming the numerous bear puns that will likely riddle this article, Farjay Studios’ upcoming Bear Simulator has utterly mauled its Kickstarter funding goal just days after its official launch. Described as a first-person bear (FPB?) experience, was trying to raise $29,500 to aid development, but ended up poaching over $60,000 at the time of writing. With the $29,500 funding goal already put into hibernation and a further 25 days left to go, Farjay Studios has suggested that virtual reality support with the Oculus Rift VR headset is possible for the title, though it’s not yet confirmed.
The developer is yet to offer an update concerning the campaign’s (all right, I’m seriously out of bear puns) success. However, it was suggested on the Kickstarter page that Farjay Studios still needs to buy a developer version of the headset before implementing it into the bear experience; in other words, covering the bear necessities (there you go, one more). If so, it might well be developed using the DK2 kit that was announced at GDC last week.
Check out the alpha gameplay trailer for Bear Simulator below, and consider donating to the already-funded campaign to get all beared up ( oh my god, I’m so sorry) upon release for $15. At the very least, you’ll get a fun scenario of a bear trying to maul a squealing pig in the most adorable manner possible. And at the very least (again), that’s not something that’s going to happen in early GOTY contender Goat Simulator.
Whew, I bear-ly (please, kill me now) got through that one.
