Recently developer Atlusannounced a 3DS remake of their 2008 first-person RPG Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of the Lagaard, which was originally released for the Nintendo DS back in 2008.

The remake has been titled Etrian Odyssey II Untold:The Knight of Fafnir. While not much is known of what will be added in the remake, it has been confirmed that The Knight of Fafnir will drop player-created adventurers in favor of a cast of pre-made characters. When Atlus remade the original Etrian Odyssey - as 2013’s Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl - they added extensive characters, cut scenes, and voice acting so we expect to see that here as well.

Etrian Odyssey II tells the story of a quest to attain the ‘Grail of Kings’, which is said to be kept in a floating castle in the sky. In order to get to the Grail, the player will have to journey through the Yggdrasil Labyrinth, a maze made from the trunk of a behemoth tree. The series borrows elements from classic dungeon-crawler RPGs, with extensive customization and fantastical settings.

Unfortunately, Atlus has only confirmed a Japanese release for the remake at this time. All the same, check out the Japanese language trailer below.
