Fans of the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise will be pleased to hear that Atari will be releasing Rollercoaster Tycoon World, for PC in 2015.

Developed by Pipeworks Software, Rollercoaster Tycoon World will be the fourth main entry in the franchise and the first to be released since the third installment way back in 2004. The game will once again put players in charge of running their own theme park, complete with rides, shops, people, and the iconic roller coasters that made the games so popular in the first place. Park maintenance and customer desire will be as important as they were in the previous installments, and are vital to your success. Everything in RollerCoaster Tycoon World is bigger and better, with more rides than ever before and a new innovative track builder.

Something else new coming into the game is the multiplayer mode, which will let up to four people cooperate to manage one theme park. Players will also be able to visit each others theme parks in single player and share blueprints for roller coasters online, making this game the most connected in the franchise yet.

“The RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise has captured the heart of gaming enthusiasts globally for close to 15 years, and we’re eager to provide the next installment of the phenomenal series to new and life-long fans,” Atari CEO Fred Chesnais said in a press release today. “Many of the new features in RollerCoaster Tycoon World were not possible a few years ago, but we have taken advantage of technological improvements to offer a wildly fun gaming experience that stays true to the storied franchise. This is the game fans have been asking for.”

After the negative reception of RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 Mobile by fans and critics alike, many worried that the next installment in the franchise would heavily rely on microtransactions that plagued the mobile game. However, the official RollerCoaster Tycoon Twitter account was quick to dismiss this, tweeting “RollerCoaster Tycoon World will be a full PC experience and will be “MicroTransaction free””. Phew!
