Ubisoft has announced its newest Assassin’s Creed title, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.
Set during the Industrial Revolution, the story takes place in London in the year of 1868. The heroes of this tale are Jacob and Evie Frye, playable twins set on organizing the criminal group known as the Syndicate.
New gameplay features include being able to ride horse-drawn carriages, and a new arsenal of weaponry and gadgets (including the all new grappling hook). You’ll also be able to engage with your environment to take down opponents. According to the Guardian, Syndicate’s map will be 30% larger than Unity’s map, with London divided up into several key sections - Westminster, Southwark, Whitechapel, Thames and the Strand.
With the two new playable characters, it’s been confirmed that the game will not feature any multiplayer or online based co-op. Four special editions of the game have already been confirmed. The bundles can be viewed in the tweet from @lifelower below, and are set to include a season pass, a map, a figurine and a number of extra missions.

With the disappointment that was Assassin’s Creed Unity, Ubisoft needs to lift up its game (no pun intended) if they hope to win back their fans. Dale reviewed Unity last year, scoring the game a 6/10. “The overwhelming feeling with Unity is that of a franchise increasingly existing solely at the behest of a board of shareholders,” he said in his review. “The overriding sense is that Assassin’s Creed has lost its way, and Ubisoft needs to do something pretty impressive next year if it wants to convince us that the series still has what it takes to remain in the big leagues.”
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set to release on Xbox One and PS4 on October 23rd, with the PC version coming sometime after. Check out the new trailer below.
