Whilst there’s still no news of a “proper” Animal Crossing game for the Wii U, Nintendo has announced a spinoff game for the struggling console - Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival.
In Amiibo Festival, the game functions in a similar fashion as to Mario Party, with the main objective of the game aimed in making your villager the happiest person in town. The game operates like a digital board game and as the name implies, makes use of a range of Animal Crossing themed Amiibos. With eight Amiibos confirmed for release - Isabelle, Tom Nook, KK Slider and Mabel have been reported as to being the first wave of Amiibos to launch alongside the game.
As well as the Amiibo figurines, the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer amiibo cards are said to be compatible with Amiibo Festival at launch. Whilst little is known about the functionality of the cards, according to the Nintendo E3 page, we can can probably expect the cards to make some use within the mini-games.
Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival is expected to launch “Holiday 2015″.
Jamie Goodin reviewed New Leaf last year, and awarded the game a solid 9/10. “Whether you play for five minutes or five hours, Animal Crossing: New Leaf manages to be a rewarding experience,” he wrote in his review. “Everything you do, and every discovery you make feels significant, and for that, New Leaf is an incredible gaming experience that ought not be missed by anyone willing to let themselves become immersed in it.”
