Alleged Assassin’s Creed ‘Comet’ Artwork Leaks

Assassin’s Creed Comet, the ‘in-development’ title rumored to be in development for PS3 and Xbox 360 slated for release later this year, is intend to give ‘last-gen’ gamers an alternative to the upcoming Assassins Creed Unity, which recently received a launch trailer and a host of new screenshots.

Now, to add to the rumor-mill, a rather popular DeviantArt user named DarthDestruktor posted up some concept art that allegedly was given to him from a friend’s father who works at Ubisoft.

The full picture can be seen below. To further add to this, Videogamer just posted a rather poignant article, naming Ancient Rome as a probable setting for Assasin’s Creed Comet. That’s actually one possible setting that we mentioned in our recent 5 Settings We’d Like To See in Assassin’s Creed article, so it’s good to know that’s it not just us that thinks the rise and fall of Ceaser would be a great place for an Assassin to have some real historical impact.

The below artwork featuring the Roman clothing, footwear and gladius certainly corroborates this setting, but then again, this could be a well-made fake given the rather sketchy source.

Jade Raymond, Ubisoft Toronto lead and a prominent producer at Ubisoft who worked on Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed III, Watch Dogs and The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, also recently revealed to Digital Spy that one of the new Assassin’s Creed games is set in her “favorite era,” and (this is really stretching it) given her reputation for outlandishness, it could very well be Ancient Rome.

While it would certainty give creedence (see what I did there?) to the rumor, Assassin’s Creed Comet itself is still just a rumor, so whether we actually get an Assassin’s Creed game that is set in Ancient Rome is ultimately up to the folks at Ubisoft. Still, take a look at the concept art below, which at the very least looks quite believable.
