Chillingo, the mobile publisher known for titles such as Cut the Rope, Mega Dead Pixel and iCycle, has become the third EA-owned company to lose its founding members in the space of a week, MCV has reported.
Last week, Popcap founder Dave Roberts publicly announced that he was leaving for pastures new, having been with the company for 9 years. Then the following day, Criterion founders Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward were revealed to have left EA in an article over at Polygon. Sperry and Ward since announced that they will be setting up a new studio.
EA has been suffering from a turbulent time of late. Battlefield 4 has been suffering from high-profile problems with its online multiplayer, a fact that has seen themselves embroiled in a class-action lawsuit alleging that the publisher deliberately misled shareholders.
“I can confirm that Chris Byatte and Joe Wee have left Chillingo,” a spokesperson for Chillingo told us. “We have no further statement at this time.”
It’s not currently known whether any of these events are connected, but their proximity to each other is certainly leading to speculation.
