AbleGamers kick off charity drive

The American charity AbleGamers has launched a new campaign to help disabled gamers.

Titled “Driving Home Accessibility,” it aims to raise the funds necessary to bring equipment to disabled gamers across America; the campaign kicks off today with a 12 hour Mario Kart 8 gaming marathon, all broadcast live on Twitch. You can challenge the charity to win special prizes like customised controllers from EvilControllers.com. All donations go to a very good cause, which we hold dear at Continue Play.

The drive is looking to raise $200,000 to fund a tour bus packed with accessible technology, which they will drive from LA to Boston, showcasing everywhere they can en-route. “Anywhere with… disabled gamers that can’t come to us - we’re gonna go to them,” said Steve Spohn, COO of AbleGamers.

AbleGamers is similar to the UK-based charity Special Effect; Driving Home Accessibility will provide funds needed to build specially-adapted controllers which will allow disabled gamers to play games, free from the confines of their disability. Please give generously - even if all you can give is a retweet - every little thing helps.
