Here at Continue Play we are dreamers. Well, we spend a lot of time daydreaming at the very least… Recently we’ve been daydreaming that we are our favourite videogame characters - what would our New Year Resolutions be? If you were your favorite videogame character today, what would your New Year Resolution be?? To die less often as the respawning is killing you? Or simply to be a far less Angry Bird?
1. Vault Boy - Fallout
My new year’s resolution for 2015 is to change war. We all know that war - war never changes, but I think with a little positivity and fair amount of Vault Tec ordinance, we can change war for the better.
2. The Kid - Bastion
I spend a lot of time rolling around on floating platforms these days, believe it or not. Living on the Bastion means you need to watch your footing. A lot. It’s gonna be hard, but this year I resolve to find somewhere to live on solid ground. Maybe if I push the button…
3. Gordon Freeman - Half Life
I’m actually quite a shy guy. Despite having a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from MIT and having held countless meetings and given more peer-reviewed presentations than I can count, I’ve never been much of an orator. This year I resolve to go to a few public speaking classes and see if I can get my confidence up. Hopefully it’ll help me work up the nerve to ask Alyx out on a date…
4. Solid Snake - Metal Gear Solid
Otacon keeps telling me to give up smoking. He still won’t shut up about that time I swallowed my smokes before jumping on that tanker before Big Shell… Not even reminding him of the time we met shuts him up. My resolution is to get Otacon to shut up so I can enjoy my smokes in damn peace.
5. The Medic - Surgeon Simulator
I’ve performed every surgery you could think of in every place you could possibly imagine. Back of an ambulance, in space - it’s all been done! The problem is that my patients have this inconsiderate habit of dying on me. My resolution for 2015 is to improve my Kill/ Death ratio on Medal of Duty: Battlefield. I find shooters relaxing and it helps steady my hands before surgery!
